Creating Tags in Action Network

What are Tags?

Tags are an incredibly valuable and versatile tool for membership management. They are a useful way of adding a certain attribute to an activist record. They are easy to add or remove, and so are a great way of adding a status to a member that may change, or that is only needed temporarily.
Here are some examples of how you can use tags in Action Network:
  1. After speaking to a new member, you could tag them with a "Welcome Call" tag, to show they've received an initial welcome call so that you can avoid them receiving another welcome call.
  2. You could create a "Volunteer" tag to show that the activist has expressed an interest in volunteering. Using a tag for this can be useful as someone's status as a volunteer may change over time.
  3. When using CallHub for contacting members you could tag everyone contacted with a tag to show they've been spoken to, such as "May 2021 Phonebank".
  4. You could tag people based on form responses, actions taken or donations made.

How Do I Create A New Tag?

1. From the Action Network Group you wish to create a tag in (eg. Your local/regional party AN Group), click on DETAILS.

2. In the drop-down list, hover over Tags and click on the + symbol to the right.

The Details drop-down menu, showing Tags as the top option.

3. On the following screen enter the name of the Tag you want to use, and click on CREATE TAG.
It's a good idea to check if an appropriate Tag already exists before creating a new one.
