Why Would I Need To Duplicate A Fundraising Page?
Most fundraising campaigns seek to increase monthly recurring revenue, and as such the primary focus of the fundraising campaign will likely be a single fundraising page set up to accept recurring monthly donations. However, most campaigns will incorporate a second fundraising page set up to take one-off donations. Rather than creating two fundraising pages from scratch you can easily duplicate your existing Fundraiser and make any changes that you need.
You may also be looking to carry out some A/B testing, where you present different groups with a different version of your Fundraiser. So members in Group A may be directed to a Fundraiser with donation buttons for £5, £10 & £20, while Group B are directed to a page with options for £10, £20 and £30.
How To Duplicate A Fundraiser: Create A One-Off Donation Page From A Monthly Fundraiser
1. To begin, head to the Start Organising menu, click on Actions. Move your cursor over the Fundraisers menu item and click on the list icon that appears to the right.
2. Find the Fundraiser you want to make a copy of in the list that appears. To duplicate it, just click on the duplicate icon, which shows two overlapping squares.
3. You'll be taken straight to the Edit Fundraiser page, just as you would when creating a new Fundraiser. However, all of the fields will already be complete. The first thing you should do is give your Fundraiser a new Administrative Title. It's a good idea to make it clear in the title that this is a One-Off fundraising page.
4. Next, you just need to run through the page and make any changes you need to.
- Check for any references to monthly donations in your title and text, and update these.
- Check if the donation button amounts need to be updated- often one-off donation pages will benefit from higher suggested donation amounts.
5. As we're creating a one-off donation page we'll need to amend the settings for recurring donations. In most instances you'll still want to give donors the option of making a recurring donation, in which case you just need to choose Make Recurring Contributions Optional from the first drop-down menu, and Allow User To Set Recurring Period in the second.
You can select Remove Recurring Contributions to take away the option of recurring donations entirely, but it's usually best to leave the option enabled.
6. Once you're happy with everything on the page just click on the button marked SAVE AND GO TO NEXT STEP.
7. You'll be taken to the thank you page which will use the same content you set up for your original fundraising page. Just edit the text to make it relevant to this Fundraiser, being careful to remove any reference to monthly donations.
Remember, if you've set recurring donations as optional then donors who arrive on this page may have made either a one-off, or recurring donation. For that reason it's best not to reference the frequency of the donation at all in any text.
8. Check the sharing options by clicking on Edit Sharing Options, and amending the text of each sharing option as needed.
Why not amend the sharing link to that of your monthly recurring Fundraiser? This then has the potential to drive more people to the Fundraiser you're focused on.
9. Once you're happy with all of the changes you've made click on SAVE & PUBLISH.
10. As this Fundraiser is a duplicate of an existing one it's a good idea to check, and change the URL. By default Action Network will use the same name as your original fundraiser and add a number onto the end. To edit the URL click on the button marked Edit URL.
11. Edit the URL until you're happy with it and then click SAVE PERMALINK.
You can edit the URL at any time, but it's best to do so before the Fundraiser has been shared anywhere. Changing the URL later will break any links to the Fundraiser that have been shared.
12. Your Fundraiser is now published and ready to share. There's no need to set a page wrapper as the page will use the same wrapper used on your original fundraising page.
