How To Send A Test Email From Action Network
Here we'll look at sending a test Email from the Email Editor within Action Network, but the same principles apply to any test Emails- such as those found in the Settings tab, or in the Responses tab of an Action page.
Why Should I Send A Test Email?
Before hitting send on an email you should check it appears as expected and that all links and images work. Here are some basic checks you should complete:
- Do all links behave as expected?
- Do all images appear, and are they formated as expected?
- Is the font formatting (Font, Colour, Size) consistent throughout?
- Are there any errors in spelling, punctuation, or grammar?
- Do Clips show the desired information?
It's best practice to send your test email to more than one person to identify any issues. When using Clips for anything more advanced than adding in an Activist's name it's also recommended that you use the SEND AS ANOTHER ACTIVIST function to check how the email will appear to a small sample of Activist's.
How To Send A Test Email To Yourself Or Another Person
1. Create your Email as normal within the Email Editor. Scroll down to the bottom of the page where you'll see a field containing your email address.
2. If you're sending a test Email to somebody else, add their email address. You can add multiple email addresses separated by a comma (,) if you want to send the test to more than one person at a time. Once all the email addresses have been added click on the button marked SAVE & SEND TEST.
3. You'll shortly receive a copy of the email as it would appear to you when sent. Any other recipients will receive a copy as it would appear to them when sent.
How To Send A Test Email As It Would Be Seen By Another Activist
1. Create your Email as normal within the Email Editor. Scroll down to the bottom of the page where you'll see a field containing your email address.
2. Click on the text that reads SEND AS ANOTHER ACTIVIST.
3. On the following page you'll see some text explaining the function of this test. Add in the email address of the Activist you've chosen to test your email with.
4. Once you've added in their email address click on the button marked SAVE.
5. You'll be returned to the Email Editor. Again, scroll down to the box containing your email address and click on SAVE & SEND TEST.
6. You'll shortly receive an email, which although sent to your inbox will appear as it would to the Activist whose email you added in Step 3 above. In the example above the email would be sent to norm.cassidy@greenparty.org.uk but the First Name Clip would show Jordan's name.
