MODX: Adding Banners & Buttons

Splash Banners

On the Home Page of your website we encourage you to add at least one large Splash Banner image to grab the attention of your website visitors. You can also add these Splash Banners on normal website pages as well if you like, although we think they work best on the Home Page.

You can add up to four individual splash banners that will animate across and it is easy to swap these around and link them to important areas of your website whenever you wish.
Each Splash Banner should be 860 pixels wide and 305 pixels tall at 72 pixels to the inch; first upload them to your images folder (see Images, Graphics and Identity) and you can add them by navigating to your Home Page->Template Variables->Pages Settings and ‘Add Item’ on the Splash Banner section; navigate to your images folder and select the banner. Repeat for each banner if you intend to use more than one. You can switch the Splash Banner and Splash Buttons on or off by checking or unchecking the checkboxes at the start of the Page Settings tab.

Splash Buttons

Underneath the Splash Banner you can add three Splash Buttons which should be used to highlight the three most important Actions you wish visitors to take. You can edit and amend these Buttons by clicking on ‘Add Item’ under the Splash Buttons section or you can edit existing Buttons by right clicking the displayed graphics.
This will open up the Item editing box where you can specify the Title which is the text that appears underneath the button, the Link which can either be a page ID in double square brackets or a direct URL link for external pages. You can select the image by double clicking on the link and pasting the image path in or clicking on the double arrows to navigate to the correct image using the image browser.
