Removing Custom Fields & Questions

Removing Custom Fields & Questions

Removing data from Custom Fields & Questions is irreversible. Please ensure you have no need for the data before proceeding. You're unable to delete fields in bulk that are syndicated from the national party but can do so from the Activist Record so care should be taken. To check which fields are maintained centrally please check this guide: Which custom fields are synced to Activists on Action Network from the Green Party's national database?

Why Would I Need To Remove Custom Fields Or Questions?

In most circumstances, this is simply a matter of housekeeping. Removing fields that are no longer needed limits the number of pages of custom fields on each Activist Record and can make life easier when choosing fields on which to filter when using the Query Builder. Often form responses are valid or relevant for a short amount of time, and can safely be removed once they've served their purpose.

How To Remove Custom Field Data From A Single Activist Record

1. If you only need to remove the Custom Field Data from a single Activist Record simply navigate to their record and click on EDIT ACTIVIST.

2. Navigate to the Custom Field you wish to delete and click on the x in the top left.

3. Repeat this for each Custom Field you wish to remove and then click on SAVE ACTIVIST.

How To Remove Custom Field Data From All Activists

1. From the START ORGANIZING menu, select Details. Move your mouse cursor over the Questions & Custom Fields menu item and click on the list icon that appears.

2. Navigate to the Question or Custom Field you wish to remove and click on the bin icon to the right of it. If you are removing a Question only, so that it no longer appears in the Question Library the process ends here.

Deleting a Question will not delete any responses held in a Custom Field, and will only remove it from the Question Library. To delete any responses repeat this step for the corresponding Custom Field before continuing to the next step.

3. Once you've confirmed that you wish to delete the data held in the Custom Field for all activists you can click on the eye icon to hide the Custom Field so it no longer appears in your list of Custom Fields.
