It's important that access to your Green Party email address is protected, and so you should set a strong password and in most cases you shouldn't share this with anyone. Some users may need to share their password with someone they job-share with, but this shouldn't be done via a messaging platform and passwords shouldn't be written down, or stored anywhere. Some local parties also have a process for sharing the password with the Chair of the party. If you're unsure you should check with your Chair.
When you're first issues with a Green Party email address you'll be given a randomly generated password. You should change this the first time you log in. If you are taking over a mailbox from someone else you should also change your password the first time you log in.
We're aware that some local parties advise their committee members not to change the password when taking over an existing mailbox. This is definitely not the case- every user should change their password as soon as they have access to their email account.
You should also change your password frequently, and never use the same password as you use for another service.
Changing Your Password
1. Once you've logged into your email account via webmail. Click on the Settings icon on the left-hand side of the page.
2. From the menu that appears select Password.
3. On the screen that appears you'll see three fields. You'll need to enter your current password in the top bo, and your new password in the two boxes below.
Your password will need to be at least six characters in length, with at least one number, and one symbol.
4. Once you've entered your new password hit Save, and wait for confirmation that your password has been changed successfully.
What If I've Forgotten My Password?
If you've forgotten your password, you'll need to ask your local party chair to raise a ticket to have the password reset. You'll be issued with a temporary password, which you should change as soon as you've managed to log in.
