Wordpress: Action Network Widgets

Wordpress: Action Network Widgets

There are a number of modules that connect to ActionNetwork that you can use on your GPEW-issued Wordpress website:
  1. Upcoming Events List
  2. Recent Actions List
  3. Single Action (embedded)
  4. Sign Up form
Here's how to add and use each of them:

Upcoming Events List

Displays a bullet point list of your next events. Each bullet point has the date of the event, the title of the event, and is a link to the event where people can sign up.

Add a shortcode module to the page. Just as you would for a heading or an image, on a new line on the page type '/' and search for shortcode in the list. The shortcode you need to enter for this widget is [actionnetwork_calendar]. It should look like this:

Recent Actions List

Displays a list of recent actions in a bullet point list. Each item in the list is a link to the action.

You need to add a shortcode module onto the page. Just as you would for a heading or an image, on a new line on the page type '/' and search for shortcode in the list. The shortcode for this action is [actionnetwork_list]. It should look like this:

Single Action (embedded)

Displays a single action embedded onto the page. People can interact with that action without leaving the page they are on. Excellent for donate actions.

You need to add the Action Network module onto the page. Just as you would for a heading or an image, on a new line on the page type '/' and search for Action Network in the list. Then choose from the dropdown which action you wish to display. It will automatically add the ID of the action you've chosen below, but this won't be visible to people looking at your site. It should look like this:

Sign Up Form

A sign up form that people can fill out to be added to your Action Network list.

This has already been added for you to the footer of your page. If you wish to display a Sign Up form elsewhere, you will need to make a basic form action and use the above Single Action (embedded). If you wish to modify the title and button text for this element, you will need to go to Appearance > Customise > Widgets > Top Footer. Then you can set the options there (the button text is at the bottom of the long list of checkboxes!)
