If you've captured consent from supporters to receive emails from your local party or group you can request that these activists are added to your email list by contacting the Digital Support Team.
Before You Start
Before preparing a list of supporters you should make sure that not only have you captured the consent of these individuals, but that you are able to demonstrate this. If you've captured a supporter list on another platform you should check that you've made it clear, and have captured explicit consent to contact your supporters via email and for what purpose.
If you've captured a supporter list on paper, check that this list can be used to demonstrate explicit consent to contact via email. Once your list is uploaded into Action Network you will probably need to securely destroy any paper copies.
Preparing A File
From Another Digital List
If you've captured a list of supporters on another platform you may be able to export this list as as a CSV file, which you can send over to us by raising a ticket or emailing
techsupport@greenparty.org.uk.
Just make sure to include a unique email address for each supporter. You can find out about the other fields to include in the Paper Sign-Up Form section below.
To prepare a file from a paper sign-up form simply transfer all of the information you want to import into a CSV file. As a minimum, you will need to include a unique email address for each supporter but can also include:
- Name: The supporter's name, split into First Name and Last Name columns.
- Address: The first line of the supporter's postal address.
- City: The supporter's city.
- Postcode: This will enable automatic mapping of the supporter's Ward, Parliamentary Constituency, and any other geographically-determined field.
- Mobile Number: Ideally this should be entered including the country code, eg. +44.
You can use the Supporter Upload file included in this guide, and can leave any fields blank that you don't need, or don't have information for. For example, if you don't have the name of one of your supporters you can simply add their email address and leave any other fields in that row blank.
You can of course include any other fields you wish to add to their Activist Record, feel free to check with us before preparing your file if you have any questions about this.
Before sending over your file, please double check that you have captured all of the correct information and that the information on each row corresponds to the activist whose email is recorded.
