Why Do I Need To Register Committee Members & Other Party Officers?
Maintaining an up to date register of all party officers helps support the smooth management of the party. It ensures we have contact details for local and regional party officers and can prevent delays when requests are made to the national party which require authorisation from a party Chair.
Currently only Local or Regional Party Officers can be updated using this process. Liberation, or other self-organised Groups do not need to follow this process to add an officer.
Who Should Take Responsibility For Updating Officer Roles Using This Process?
Anyone can add or remove officer roles using this process, or the removal process (which can be found
here). Incoming officers can add themselves, but it's good practice to have one person responsible for registering all officers who is confident in checking Action Network to ensure they're entering the email address associated with an officer's membership.
How Do I Register A New Officer?
- To add a local party officer: https://members.greenparty.org.uk/register-a-local-officer
- To add a regional party officer: https://members.greenparty.org.uk/register-a-regional-officer
Alternatively, you can search register officer in the Member's Site search box.
2. If the form recognises you, you should first click the link "Click here" to make sure you're capturing the correct data for the person you're registering. Even if that person is you, you should still click this link if you have more than one Action Network account.
3. Complete the form with the details of the officer you wish to add. Take care to ensure you're using the email address associated with their membership and not their role-based Green Party email. The first and last name fields aren't mandatory, but care should be taken to ensure they're spelt accurately and properly capitalised to ensure the officer's record isn't overwritten with inaccurate data.
The drop-down menus for Officer Role & Party are both searchable, so you can start typing in the name of the local/regional party rather than scrolling through the entire list.
4. Once the form is completed click on the button marked REGISTER LOCAL OFFICER or REGISTER REGIONAL OFFICER. You'll receive a confirmation message on the screen.
5. To register another officer just refresh the screen and repeat the process from Step 2 above.
What Happens Next?
The officer you've registered will receive an email confirmation that a change has been made to their record.
Two tags will be added to their record. One to show the local/regional party for which they're an officer and the second to show their position.
Although it's possible to add or remove these tags from Activist Records this will not update their Officer Roles in Salesforce, and so they'll still need to be registered as a party officer centrally.
When an officer is added or removed it will be registered to their Salesforce record. Only Green Party staff have access to Salesforce and so there is no way for local/regional party officers to edit these without using the Register or Remove Forms.
