Why Have I Lost Access To My Action Network Groups?

Why Have I Lost Access To My Action Network Groups?

If you’ve logged into Action Network and found that you no longer have access to the Groups that you were previously an Administrator or Organiser for there are a number of possible reasons.

If you’ve lost access your Group Chair should have the required permissions to reinstate your permissions. Requests to the Digital Support Team to reinstate, or grant access to Action Network may require approval from the Chair, depending on the circumstances.

Cancellation

GPEW and all associated Groups have a responsibility to ensure that access to the data of our activists is limited only to those who need it. Although local parties should assume responsibility for maintaining their administrator lists the Digital Support Team will occasionally need to step in and remove administrator access if a Current membership can’t be verified.

If you appear to have lost access you should first contact your Group’s Chair, ask them to verify your membership status and reinstate you. If you are the Chair, or the Chair is unable to fulfil this task for you then please raise a support ticket.

It makes it a lot easier to manage access to Action Network Groups if administrators use the email address associated with their membership: Which Email Address Should I Use When Adding An Action Network Administrator?

Unsubscribed

All Action Network administrators must be contactable by GPEW. As such, new Action Network administrators are subscribed to the Green Party Digital Support Action Network Group. You’ll receive a weekly update on how to get the most out of our digital tools. We may also, occasionally, contact you if an urgent matter arises that we need you to be aware of.

If you Unsubscribe from the Digital Support Group whilst having current Action Network administrator permissions, we will consider this a request to remove your access. If you’re subsequently re-added as an administrator you’ll be resubscribed to the Group.

If you’ve unsubscribed in error, your Group Chair can reinstate your access and you'll be resubscribed to emails from Digital Support.

Uncontactable

If we are unable to contact you via email, again we may remove your administrator permissions. This could happen if you mark a Green Party (or any Action Network) email as Spam or if emails to your address bounce.

If you’ve lost access and you’re unsure of your email subscription status, feel free to raise a ticket.

If you've previously marked an email as Spam you'll need to follow this process before we can reinstate your access: Spam Complaints and Resubscribing to lists.

Inactivity

The Digital Support Team regularly check for inactive administrators. If you don’t appear to have logged in for some time we may remove your access. Your Group chair can reinstate your access when you next need it.

Suspension

If your membership of the party has been suspended your access to Action Network will be temporarily removed. Once your membership resumes your Group Chair can reinstate your access, or you can raise a support ticket.

Are There Any Other Reasons?

The reasons above cover the circumstances in which GPEW may need to intervene and make changes to Administrator permissions. However, as it is the responsibility of each Group to maintain their own Administrator permissions, so you may find that your access has been removed by another Administrator within your Group or, for local parties, an administrator at regional level.
