How Do I Manage My Green Party Email Subscriptions?

How Do I Manage My Green Party Email Subscriptions?

What Mailing Lists Am I Subscribed To As A Member?

Upon joining the Green Party, via the Green Party Join Site you will usually be subscribed to three active mailing lists. These are:
  1. The Green Party of England & Wales mailing list.
  2. Your regional party, as determined by the address you have provided.
  3. Your local party, as determined by the address you have provided.
There are some circumstances where you may be subscribed to fewer mailing lists than is standard:
  1. Should you live in an area that doesn't have a current local party you'll be subscribed to GPEW and you regional party's lists only.
  2. Should you live outside of England & Wales you will be subscribed only to the Green Party of England & Wales list.
There are also some instances where you'll be subscribed to one additional mailing list, depending on your location. For example, if you live within Greater Manchester you'll be subscribed to the Greater Manchester Federation of Green Parties mailing list, in addition to the three standard mailing lists.

What Happens If I Move To A New Local Party Area?

When you update your address details via the Member's Site your postcode will be used to look up your new local and regional party. You'll be automatically subscribed to their mailing lists automatically within 24 hours, but you won't be unsubscribed from your previous local and regional party's mailing lists. This is so you can decide whether or not you want to hear from your previous local party. You should receive fewer emails from your previous local and regional parties as they target emails to local members only.
If you need to update your address details then please check out this guide: Updating Your Details Through The New Green Party Member's Website.

How Do I Manage My Email Subscriptions?

Most emails sent from the Green Party will come via a platform called Action Network. This is an activist management system used by many progressive organisations. At the bottom of any email sent via Action Network you'll see some text with a link which will allow you to manage your email subscriptions.

Clicking on the link labelled click here will take you to your email subscriptions. You can unsubscribe from any of the lists by clicking on the Unsubscribe link to the right of the mailing list name. You'll be asked to confirm before you're unsubscribed from emails.

If you're logged into Action Network you can also manage your subscriptions by heading straight to https://actionnetwork.org/subscriptions

What Are Transactional Emails And Should I Opt-Out?

On the right-hand side of your email subscriptions page, you'll see the option to opt out or in to transactional emails. Transactional emails are those triggered by particular actions and include things like donation receipts, confirmation of registration for an event and automatic acknowledgements for things like forms, petitions and letter campaigns. We recommend that you remain opted in to ensure you don't miss any important information, and can more easily manage any donations made via Action Network.

We're unable to manage your transactional emails settings, so you'll need to head to your email subscriptions page to manage these yourself.

There Are Email Subscriptions I Don't Recognise

As Action Network is used by many progressive organisations you may find that you have some subscriptions that don't appear to relate to your Green Party membership. Action Network allows you to manage subscriptions from several organisations all in one place. In the image below you can see that amongst the Green Party subscriptions there are two subscriptions (Action Builder and Action Squared). You can manage these subscriptions in the same way you would any other email subscriptions.

Will I Be Subscribed To Any Other Mailing Lists?

During internal elections, you may be added to a separate mailing list to ensure you receive information letting you know how to participate. You'll also be able to opt-in to updates from other local and regional parties, and self-organised groups.
If you're an elected officer, or Action Network administrator you may be subscribed to mailing lists to help you in your role.
