How To Request A New Green Party Email Address

Who Can Have A Green Party Email Address?

Green Party email addresses can be requested by any recognised group within the party– local parties, regional parties, or self organised groups and Green Party councillors. The format of the email address will vary depending on the purpose.
  1. Most position-based emails will be in the format positionname@groupname.greenparty.org.uk. For example treasurer@anytown.greenparty.org.uk.
  2. Candidate emails may be issued in the format ward.name@localparty.greenparty.org.uk or constituencyname@votegreen.uk. This will depend on the type of election, and whether the candidate is standing in a target ward or parliamentary constituency.
  3. For elected Green Party councillors, we can issue email addresses in the format firstname.lastname@localparty.greenparty.org.uk.

Other Domains

greenparty.wales & plaidwerdd.cymru

Local parties in Wales can request emails with either, or both of the domains listed above. When making your request please let us know if you'd like both, and which inbox you'll be checking and we can arrange to have emails from both domains sent to one inbox.

Young Greens

The Young Greens manage their own email domain. We're unable to assist with setup or support of these emails.

Other Group Domains

Some groups, including local parties manage their own email provisioning and have emails in the format @localpartyname.co.uk or similar. We're unable to help with these email addresses, but if you're unsure who manages the domain feel free to check with us.

Important Information

There are a few things you should be aware of when requesting, and using a Green Party email address.
  1. Email addresses are provided by GPEW and access to them can be removed at any time.
  2. We may change our process for provisioning of new email addresses during election periods.
  3. In almost all cases email addresses provided by GPEW should be considered temporary. You'll be provided with access for as long as is appropriate, but Green Party email addresses do not belong to individuals. Therefore they shouldn't be linked to your membership, or an Action Network admin account. For more see Which Email Address Should I Use When Adding An Action Network Administrator?
  4. Downloading, or exporting emails from a GPEW provided email address to another platform may constitute a data breach, reportable to the Information Commissioner's Officer. If you're concerned that a breach may have taken place please contact dataprotection@greenparty.org.uk for guidance.
  5. If you hold a position based email (eg. membership@, ero@...etc.), you will be expected to transfer stewardship of these accounts when you vacate your position. You should leave any emails in place, as deletion may hamper the work of your successor and constitute a data breach.
  6. If you act as a party Treasurer it's expected that you will use only your GPEW issued email to communicate relating to donations, or other sensitive financial information.
  7. Green Party staff have access to all GPEW issued email addresses and may access your mailbox to check if they are in use, to provide technical support, or to comply with Subject Access Requests.

How Do I Request A New Email Address Or Password Reset For An Existing Address?

We will only provide email addresses with the approval of a group Chair/Coordinator, or a member of GPEW staff. If you request an email address but do not fall into one of these categories you'll be asked to obtain their approval before we can issue an email address.
When an email address is requested you'll need to provide:
  1. The full email address being requested e.g. name@localparty.greenparty.org.uk.
  2. The full name and email of the person who should have access to the email account.
