This guide covers adding your Green Party email to the Outlook app on your phone or tablet. Outlook Mobile may try to auto-configure your account as a Microsoft 365 mailbox - it is not, so you will need to select IMAP manually.
If you have done this before and need the server details, skip to the quick settings reference below.

Before You Start

You will need three things:
  1. Your Green Party email address (e.g. yourrole@localparty.greenparty.org.uk).
  2. The password you were given, or that you set through webmail.
  3. The Outlook app installed on your device (free from the App Store or Google Play).

Setting Up Your Email

Outlook on iPhone or iPad

Open Outlook and enter your full Green Party email address. If Outlook asks you to choose an account type, select IMAP under Advanced. Do not select Microsoft 365 or Exchange.

  1. For Display name, enter the name you want recipients to see.
  2. For Description, use a meaningful label, such as Lewisham GP Membership.
  3. Under IMAP Incoming Mail Server, enter:
    • Hostname: imap.stackmail.com
    • Port: 993
    • Security: SSL
    • Username: your full Green Party email address
    • Password: your mailbox password
  4. Under SMTP Outgoing Mail Server, enter:
    • Hostname: smtp.stackmail.com
    • Port: 465
    • Security: SSL/TLS
    • Username: your full Green Party email address
    • Password: your mailbox password
  5. Tap Sign In or the tick to finish.

Outlook on Android

Open Outlook and enter your full Green Party email address. If Outlook asks you to choose an account type, select IMAP under Advanced. Do not select Microsoft 365 or Exchange.

  1. For Display name, enter the name you want recipients to see.
  2. For Description, use a meaningful label, such as Lewisham GP Membership.
  3. Under IMAP Incoming Mail Server, enter:
    • Hostname: imap.stackmail.com
    • Port: 993
    • Security type: SSL/TLS
    • Username: your full Green Party email address
    • Password: your mailbox password
  4. Under SMTP Outgoing Mail Server, enter:
    • Hostname: smtp.stackmail.com
    • Port: 465
    • Security type: SSL/TLS
    • Username: your full Green Party email address
    • Password: your mailbox password
  5. Tap the tick to finish.

Verifying It Worked

Your Green Party inbox should appear in the app. Emails will start syncing - this may take a minute or two depending on how many messages you have. Send a test email to yourself to confirm both sending and receiving work.
By default, Outlook Mobile will send push notifications for new emails. You can adjust this in the app's notification settings.

Troubleshooting

"Account not found" or connection errors: Make sure you selected IMAP, not Microsoft 365. Outlook Mobile sometimes tries to configure for Exchange first, which will not work for Green Party email.
Authentication keeps failing: Check that your username is your full email address (e.g. officer@localparty.greenparty.org.uk), not a shortened version. The password is case-sensitive.
Not receiving notifications: Check your device's notification settings for the Outlook app. On Android, also check that battery optimisation is not preventing Outlook from running in the background.
Can receive but cannot send: Confirm the outgoing server is smtp.stackmail.com on port 465 with SSL/TLS.

If none of these solve it, raise a ticket and include your device type, operating system version, and any error messages you see.
